The Questions Our Daughters Are Afraid to Ask: Why Mentorship Matters Now More Than Ever

As a parent, you want the best for your daughter. You want her to succeed, to be happy, and to feel supported. But have you ever wondered about the unspoken battles she’s facing? The questions that linger in her mind, yet never make it to your dinner table conversations?

See below an extract from compiled questions asked by adolescent girls:

Let’s be honest—could your daughter comfortably ask you something as sensitive as Question 62? Or imagine your 10-year-old approaching you with Question 58? For most parents, these aren’t easy thoughts to consider. But for many girls, these are real concerns they carry in silence.

In my experience working with over 10,000 girls, I’ve seen firsthand how mentorship can bridge the gap between parents and daughters—helping girls open up about the issues they feel too embarrassed or afraid to bring up at home.

But when I suggest mentorship, I often hear from parents:

  • “My daughter is fine.”
  • “We’re best friends, she tells me everything.”
  • “She’s obedient and goes to church. She doesn’t lie.”

And while all of that may be true, let me ask you this: Do you wait until your child is sick to give her a polio injection? Of course not! It’s the same with mentorship.

Mentorship is preventive, not reactive.

It’s not for girls who are in trouble, disobedient, or rebellious—it’s for every girl. It equips them with tools to navigate challenges before they become overwhelming, to ask the tough questions without fear of judgment, and to grow emotionally and socially.

Why Mentorship is Essential for Your Daughter:

  1. A Safe Space to Open Up – Sometimes, no matter how close you are, your daughter might feel too shy or embarrassed to ask certain questions. A mentor creates a judgment-free zone for her to voice her concerns.
  2. Preparation for Life’s Challenges – Mentorship programs teach girls how to build resilience, handle peer pressure, and tackle emotional struggles before they escalate.
  3. Building Confidence – Girls gain the confidence to face life head-on, whether it’s in school, friendships, or personal growth. They learn that it’s okay to make mistakes—and more importantly, how to bounce back from them.

The Truth About Mentorship:

You don’t sign your daughter up for mentorship because she’s struggling right now—you do it to prepare her for what’s ahead. It’s about equipping her with the right tools before the storm comes, so she’s ready to face it with confidence.

So, ask yourself: Is your daughter really okay, or does she just seem okay because she doesn’t know how to ask for help? Let’s not wait until the tough questions come up. Let’s prepare her now.
